Web2.0

Some readers might be familiar with the term "Web2.0" and have an understanding of what it means. Other readers, possibly grappling with the Internet and its role in teaching and learning, might be dismayed to read it, thinking there's a whole new Internet out there to learn about. The aim of this article is to explain the term, hopefully allay some fears, and initiate some thinking for educators around Web2.0's possible application in the classroom.

Collaboration in teaching and learning

Recently, as part of its Strategic ICT Advisory Service (SICTAS) to the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations, Education.au completed a research project around collaboration in teaching and learning as it relates to information and communication technologies (ICT). This article is a brief synopsis of that paper, written to provide an introduction to the concept for educators.

m-Learning

m-Learning, or mobile learning, is a broad term describing learning that involves mobile digital technology. This article provides an introductory discussion of the devices and pedagogies associated with m-learning, and discusses several examples on m-learning in action.

Integrating e-learning into the curriculum II

This article looks at several examples of how different types of technology can be used to support and enhance teaching and learning in schools.

Murder under the Microscope

Murder under the Microscope (MuM) is an online interactive environmental investigation game for school students in years 5 to 10. Students come from all over Australia and around the world to play; this year it will run from 29 April. Once the game begins, teams of students will research and analyse the evidence to solve the crime. The project culminates with the students submitting a plan to protect the environment. Registration and support materials for the game are now available at the MuM 2009 website.

eLearning in Queensland

The Learning Place is Education Queensland's eLearning environment. It is running a number of courses this year, from explorations of how digital games can enhance student learning in English to workshops to assist with planning and conducting ICT-related professional learning.
